A dystopian city…

This installation work represents a dystopian city that is complicated, confusing and even dangerous. Staircases are disconnected, doors open to steep drops…every is random and created from instinct, yet counter-intuitive and unsettling. It is a city that has a will on its ow. It grows by itself, and is going out of control…

When one stands in the installation, one is surrounded by this densely packed mess. It is visually overwhelming and suffocating. A strip of skylight cuts through the mass of structures, exposing an LED screen that plays video of an azure blue sky.Is it a way out to a better world, or merely an illusion?

This concept is inspired by the HongKong KowLoon Walled City that was demolished in 1992.
